Remembering Pioneer, DJ Sam Chapman
I met and talked to DJ Sam Chatman for the first time at The Fifty Yard Line in Chicago. It was a Monday and I have so many Monday stories about The Fifty because of Sam Chatman. He was instrumental in opening the door for me to dance with some of the Chicago men on the set that come just to socialize – not to dance anymore. For that I am forever thankful to him.
My most memorable moments with him were the times at his birthday parties when they announced for everyone to get ready for the Dungeon photo. One million steppers in a single shot. 
. I loved it! I interviewed DJ Sam Chatman for LivingThe8Count on August 28, 2019. I was newish then and was honored to interview such a respected and notable person. The one lingering question – even from my group questions was – How old is Sam Chatman? Now I know, he was born a year after my Dad.
Rest in peace DJ Sam Chatman. Your name and memory will live on with steppers like me.

Ladies, there are more male dancers so you get to dance, and dance with quality leads with different styles. Every time I go the quality of my dance is elevated.
My birthday trip to Chicago was 3/22-3/25/24! Stepping classes were everything I hoped for and more! Lady Margaret was so kind and personable! Her class was lovely! She was VERY friendly which made me feel sooo comfortable as a beginner. Donnie Davis’ class on Saturday was a TRUE WORKOUT! I had to sit down a few times to get a break! But it was sooo worth it! He was VERY fun and friendly. All his assistants (Shawn, Kevin, etc) were nice too! We CANNOT wait to return and continue growing in this dance that we love so dearly!
